Takin' a drink of beer gave me a few seconds to think of the stuff what happened over the last little while. "The ladies at the companion house needed some help... Well needed an extra freezer for all the fish what came in for em. Good thing I still had the freezer Jai gave me to use for her sushi shipments.... Heheheh. It helped a lot." Took another drink of beer, "Lily's been 'round less and less. Can't depend on her to help out lately.... Rampancy. That's what all I was told on it. She's holdin' way too much data and it's messin' her up."
"We had the elections too.... The sheriff elections. Had a lot of folks hopin' to win. Venice, or Redeye as he likes bein' called, Gallagher, Elix, Reese, and Vitalli.... G was sure to be a shoe in.... But that fell through when Vitalli won. G'll be real riled up over it. A lot of folks don't like Vitalli. Gorram fool come to the meet and greet drunk. Some impression. Got a feelin' he won't last too long."
"Had a few problems of late, Still can't find K2... Lily's boy. Seems he was 'round in the mines for a spell.... But not now. I got a feelin' he hopped a ship off world, or had help. Most like back to Araxis so he can have access to the sand. Still can't figure out why all he'd eat sand, but then I heard of weirder."
"Speakin of weird...." Takes another drink of beer, "Had a real strange visit.... Ardra Drone... Not the same old little ones. This one was like a winged monster out of a nightmare what showed up.... Lily had somethin' happen and I ended up calling for help.... And of all folks Ardra.. The big drone shows up. Ardra had to access Lily through the navigators link or somethin' like that, then used my old eye implant to form some sorta data loop. Ok.. so I wasn't my own self for a spell.... Not a cat...."
Shakin' my head and stretchin', "Just a few day's back there was trouble with a satellite what suddenly activated. Gorram Cerberus junk in orbit. Shot down a small cargo ship and killed a crew. A bunch of the fellers went up with Elix to shut it down. Took am a while to do, but they shut it down. Jet contacted em and was gonna try to stop em. Seems we didn't get so lucky.... Venice got grabbed and beat up by the Cerberus crew. We got him back though."
"As for other stuff? Well.... AuroraBlue showed up. Returned my promise bracelet. But then showed me a place for us to meet. Then she left.... Til the other night. She came back. Met at the tree where she took the data I was haulin' 'round through the datalink with Lily. I know she's gotta go back to the desert, back to her new home...."
Finishin' off my beer and settin' on the bar, "Oh... Roy come by today. Had somethin' for the colony.... Calls it the Dragon's Shield. New ship with a lot of armaments... He felt we needed some protection for our own selves. Got to thank Roy for his work on the ship and donatin' it to us." gettin' up, started to head for the door, "Gonna go take her up now and see how she handles. Might just be the right thing to protect and serve Dragon's Egg."
